A MILITIAMAN was abducted by members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
Capt. Al Anthony Pueblas, civil-military operation (CMO) officer of 36th Infantry Battalion (IB), identified the victims as Jeremias Estrada, 58, a member of Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) assigned at Matho Patrol Base stationed in Barangay Matho, Cortes, Surigao del Sur.
Pueblas told TIMES that Estrada was at home attending his family needs in Purok Lanzones, Barangay San Agustin when four men, armed with AK-47, suddenly barged into their house and abducted the victim.

A grandchild of the victim said the victim was hogtied before he was brought to the woodland where around 20 armed men were waiting, Pueblas said.
Berlinda, the victim’s wife, is calling to the rebel group not to harm her husband.
For now, joint military and police operation is being conducted to locate and rescue the abducted militiaman.
Lt. Col. Randolph Rojas, 36th IB commander, condemned the act of the NPAs. He said the rebels show their insincerity on the ongoing peace negotiations between the government and the communist group.
Rojas also urges the community to help the military and police in locating the victim.
In a separate story, an alleged leader of NPA’s Milisyang Bayan surrendered to the 1001st Infantry Brigade in Sitio Quarry, Barangay Mapaang, Maco, Compostela Valley on Monday.
Capt. Rhyan Batchar, spokesperson of 10th Infantry Division, said Ka Niño (real name withheld due to security reason), said to be the leader of NPA-Milisyang Bayan (MB) operating in the province, surrendered around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
