Arrival of MNLF members in Zamoanga City 'not true'

From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (May 6): Arrival of MNLF members in Zamoanga City 'not true'
ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has downplayed rumors about the reported arrival of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) members in the city.

However, Salazar has urged residents to stay vigilant always.

Salazar said the report that there are MNLF members who arrived in the city was negative as per investigation by the concerned authorities.

She said what were sighted by the residents were new recruits of the Philippine Army on their way to headquarters of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division in Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Thousands of people were displaced in September 2013, after clashes broke out between government soldiers and MNLF members, who attacked the city and attempted to raise the flag of the self-proclaimed Bangsamoro Republik at Zamboanga City Hall.
