From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Mar 8): ‘Gov’t troops recover another high-powered firearms, capture NPA rebel in Quezon’
Another M16 Rifles were recovered by the government troops while one member of NPA was captured in a follow-up operation conducted yesterday, March 7, 2017 at San Andres, Quezon.
Said operation was conducted by the troops of 2nd Jungle Fighter Company and 85th Infantry Battalion under the operational control of 201st Bde, 2nd Division.
According to Col Lenard Agustin, Commander of 201st Brigade, a total of seven high-powered firearms were already recovered (two AK47, four M16 rifles, and one M203).
He also said that the captured rebel will be turned-over to the Quezon Police Provincial Office today for validation.
Likewise, Col Agustin said that there was one wounded civilian identified as Jennifer Yuson, 22y/o married, and a resident of Camflora, San Andres, Quezon. She sustained a gunshot wound on her left arm and was immediately brought to Camp Nakar Station Hospital.
According to MGen Rhoderick Parayno, Commander, 2nd Division, the troops are still conducting reconnaissance to check if there are still other firearms, ammunition and explosives left in the area.
Likewise, he stressed that the said encounter and capture of NPA rebel are results of the Division’s continuous operations since the ceasefire was terminated. The enemies’ defeat shows that the NPAs are slowly getting hard up specially that the communities are reporting their presence.
Meanwhile, as per record, after the ceasefire was terminated by the NPAs, and later by the government, the 2ID has already neutralized seven NPAs and recovered 11 high-powered firearms along with various ammunitions and explosives.
