IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay -- The police have launched a manhunt operation to arrest the two gunmen behind the gun-slay of a village official in nearby Zamboanga del Norte province.

Sr. Supt. Edwin Buenaventura Wagan, Zamboanga del Norte police director, on Monday identified the subject of the manhunt operation as Jahal Lamon and a still unidentified companion.

Wagan said Lamon and his companion were tagged as those responsible for the killing of Fernando Torlao Sr., 63, barangay councilor of Tangarak, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.

Wagan said the suspects shot dead Torlao around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Sitio Landing, Barangay Tangarak, Sibuco.

He said Torlao sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

He added the suspects fled after the incident and have gone into hiding.
