MILF: BM-LEAD conducts Year-End Assessment with Team Building

Posted to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Website (Feb 3): BM-LEAD conducts Year-End Assessment with Team Building

The Bangsamaoro-Livelihood Enhancement and Development Program (BM-LEAD), a newly founded program of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) conducted year-end assessment with team building at Amaya Beach Resort, Kusiong, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on January 21-22, 2017, to assess the status of the program and strengthen the brotherhood and camaraderie with unified commitment of its pool of volunteers for public service.

The activity was headed by Engr. Abdulwahid Sendad, BM-LEAD Program Coordinator.

Engr. Sendad emphasized that the BM-LEAD Program emanated from the wisdom of experience of implementation of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development in Conflict-affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) Extension Phase which has been closely managed, run and supervised by its Regional Office in Central Mindanao based in Cotabato City since May 2016.

The program intends to develop the Bangsamoro communities in enhancing their livelihood opportunities and productions for economic development through the use of locally available materials with focus on the following sectors, such as: agriculture (vegetable production and marketing), fisheries (tilapia production and marketing), and livestock (goat raising and marketing), added Engr. Sendad.

As a result of the assessment, the BM-LEAD has already operated in 16 municipalities and served 903 farmer beneficiaries across Central Mindanao Region for the period of 7 months from May to December 2016, Engr. Sendad disclosed.

Through the assertive efforts, unified volunteerism and strong supports of staff and volunteers of Regional Management Office (RMO) of BDA-CenMin and with the unwavering cooperation and supports of all concerned Bangsamoro communities, the BM-LEAD significantly expanded in Central Mindanao, Engr. Sendad said.

With our sincere intention coupled with strong commitment to volunteerism for this noble-purpose engagement, our development intervention is guided by the mantra of BM-LEAD such as “intervention without border” which is also anchored on the mantra of BDA – “building people who will build the nation”’, said Abdulnasser Akmad, BM-LEAD Community Development Organizers Supervisor.

Thus, our commitment is to continue bringing economic development to the tri-people of Mindanao such as the Muslims, Christians and Highlanders, Akmad stressed.

Pendatun Pataras, an Expert in Fisheries Sector and a hardworking BDA Volunteer said that through the BM-LEAD, we are also expecting a wholesome cooperation and strong support of the people in the Island Provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi, Mindanao, Philippines because we are committed and eager to bring this development intervention to them.

Frankly, amidst our deep commitment to volunteerism, their unified cooperation and strong support is a key factor to bridge the distance of their geographical location, explained Patarasa.

We hope and pray that our countrymen and women in the above-stated Island provinces will also bear the fruits of economic development through the BM-LEAD as a legacy of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development in Conflict-affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) Extension Phase.

Abdulrasheed B. Ambil, BDA-Central Mindanao Regional Manager in his final message said, “Keep going, keep up the good work BM-LEAD and keep on serving deserving communities in Mindanao regardless of religious identity, ethnic origin and political/organizational affiliation.

Finally, he congratulated the BM-LEAD Team for the job well done and the continuing commitment to strong volunteerism.

Moreover, he congratulated the communities it operated for their strong cooperation and immeasurable support to ensure the success of this endeavor.

Lastly, he also congratulated the BDA-CenMin Family for its assertiveness to support the program.
