From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 12): EMC alerts all disaster response units for Surigao City quake response

Following the magnitude 6.7 earthquake that struck Surigao City Friday night, the Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) has alerted all of its disaster response units for possible deployment in the quake-battered area.

This includes all component units from the Air Force, Army and the Navy, including their military engineer units, EMC spokesperson Major Ezra Balagtey said.

"At present troops under 402nd Infantry Brigade were deployed in the area as initial response in the disaster," he added.

And the EMC being lead agency in search rescue-and-retrieval which falls under the thematic area disaster response, the command directed all unit commanders involved in SRR to coordinate with different local disaster risk reduction management council for synchronization of effort and initiatives.

Around six persons were killed and around 126 others wounded in the 10:03 p.m. last Feb. 10.

Property damage is still being assessed as of this posting.
