Soldiers are peace builders, people’s protectors and social workers.

Public Affairs Office head Lt. Col. Ericson Rosana of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division said that the roles of the division’s soldiers are focused more on the civil military operations.

“We are now giving emphasis on roles of the soldiers here as peace builders, people’s protectors and social workers based on our Development Support and Security Plan-Kapayapaan,” he said.

During the meeting of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers,Rosana explained that the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ DSSP-Kapayapaan which covers the period from 2017 to 2022 replaced their previous 6-year Internal Peace and Security Plan Bayanihan that expired in December 31,2016.”

Rosana also said that the core of the DSSP “Kapayapaan” are on the neutralization of terrorists and extremist groups, peace process with the New People’s Army for bilateral peace talk, support operation to law enforcement especially against illegal drugs and criminality, and contribution to nation building.

He also stressed that four of the 10 provinces in 3ID’s area of coverage, namely in Regions 6, 7 and 18, are still being worked out to make these villages  insurgency-free within this year.
