From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 6): CAAP: Drones banned during 'Traslacion'
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reminded on Friday all the hobbyists and unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) operators that drones are banned during the "Traslacion" on Monday (Jan. 9).
A strict “no fly zone” will be implemented in areas where the procession of the Black Nazarene will pass through.
Drones are remotely controlled UAVs that fly through software-controlled flight plans. These are commonly used for videography, photography, as well as surveillance, research and search and rescue.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 21 series of 2014, UAVs are prohibited in populated and restricted areas such as airports, and “no fly zones” such as military training camps and the Malacanang Palace.
CAAP reminded the public that the memorandum prohibits one to operate a drone for hire or rewards, unless with a UAV Certificate of Authorization from CAAP.
The Authority also reminded that UAV owners and operators are required to register the equipment with CAAP, and to secure a certification to operate.
Violators will be fined between Php300,000 to Php500,000, CAAP said.
