PMA bids Visaya goodbye, lauds latter for services rendered to military, nation

From the Philippine News Agency (Dec 4): PMA bids Visaya goodbye, lauds latter for services rendered to military, nation

Philippine Military Academy (PMA) graduates in the Army, Air Force, Navy and the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines paid outgoing AFP chief Gen. Ricardo Visaya, paid him a tribute and testimonial parade for his outstanding service to the military and the nation Saturday.

This took place at Fort Del Pilar, Baguio, the home of the PMA, said AFP public affairs office chief Col. Edgard Arevalo.

“To be tendered a Testimonial Parade and Review by PMA—which the outgoing Chief of Staff, General Visaya deems the cradle of his youth— is a fitting salute to a son who has given more than half of his life in the service of country and people,” he said.

Prior his appoint as AFP chief, Visaya held several key positions in the military.

He was the former brigade commander of two prestigious Brigades – the 104th Infantry Brigade in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, Lanao Provinces and Basilan, and 901st Brigade in Bicol Region.
Visaya also commanded the 4th Infantry Division in Cagayan de Oro City.

Before becoming AFP chief last July 1, the former also served as 28th commander of the Southern Luzon Command.

“This is where it all started. This is where we all realized our dreams to serve our nation through the noble profession of arms,” Visaya said in thanking the PMA for its honors rendered to him.

“The PMA is where we were honed to be the best that we can be, to live the honorable way, and to be leaders of courage, integrity and loyalty,” he added.

Visaya said his strong desire to be part of change drove him to finish what he started in PMA and his entire military career.

He is a member of the PMA Class of 1983 that has so far produced three AFP chief-of-staff.
