From Update.Ph (Dec 7): Air Force to formally accept two FA-50PH aircraft tomorrow



The Philippine Air Force is scheduled to formally accept the second batch of two (2) FA-50PH Fighter/ Surface Attack/ Lead-in Fighters Trainer Aircraft (F/SA/LIFTA) from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). These 2 aircraft with tail numbers 003 and 004 arrived December 1 at Clark Air Base

The aircraft will be accepted during a turn-over, and blessing ceremony at Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base Grandstand in Pasay City on December 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm. National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will be attending as the Guest of Honor for the ceremony.

Upon arrival from South Korea, these aircraft undergone acceptance flight for three days by end-users test pilot with the presence of the Technical Inspection Acceptance Committee (TIAC) members.

There are currently nine Filipino pilots fully trained to fly the FA-50PHs. Three of these are instructor pilots and the remaining six are operational ones.

The PAF has 12-plane order from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) worth PHP18.9 billion. The remaining eight FA-50PHs are expected to be delivered this coming 2017 and 2018.

It will act as the country’s interim fighter until the Philippines get enough experience of operating fast jet assets and money to fund the acquisition of more capable fighter aircraft.
