SOLCOM to launch endangered tree sanctuary project

From the Philippine Information Agency (Nov 21): SOLCOM to launch endangered tree sanctuary project 

LUCENA City, Quezon -- The Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) will be a launching a pilot project called the “Endangered Tree Sanctuary” (ENTRESA) through a tree planting activity this November 22 at the SOLCOM-AFP headquarters, Camp Nakar, this city.

Maj. Virgilio J. Perez Jr. (INF)-PA said more or less than 200 seedlings of endangered trees will be planted inside the camp.

Maj. Perez said that endangered tree sanctuary is one of the major thrusts of SOLCOM Commander  Lt.Gen. Ferdinand F. Quilla and this is a support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to environmental protection and preservation program of the  national government.

“The purpose of the  project is to promote  the protection and preservation of endangered trees and contributes in mitigating the effects of global warming” Perez added.

SOLCOM-AFP is  inviting other government  offices  to join and witness the event.
