Communist rebel indicted for double murder in Isabela

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 11): Communist rebel indicted for double murder in Isabela

Police operatives here filed double murder charges against a New People’s Army (NPA) rebel in Isabela in connection with the killing of two village officials of Barangay Makindol in Benito Soliven, this province last month.

Probers have cited witnesses who identified Michael Eraña, alias Ka Poktong, of the Northeastern Luzon Command as one of the gunmen who shot and killed village chair Emilio Lazaro and treasurer Wilson Galapon during a drinking spree at the barangay hall last month, according to Senior Superintendent Leon Rafael, Isabela provincial police director.

Eraña was also tagged in the killing of three men in separate incidents in San Mariano town and the burning of a sugarcane plantation in the same town in 2011.
