Army's 8th ID opens month-long sportsfest

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 17): Army's 8th ID opens month-long sportsfest

The Philippine Army's 8th Infantry Division formally opened its Inter-Color Sportsfest Activity at its grandstand at Camp Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan City last Nov. 15.

In a statement Thursday, 1st Lt. Cherry Junia, 8th Infantry Division public affairs office, said the sporting event will last until Dec. 20.

She added five teams, Green, Yellow, Red, White and Blue, will be participating in basketball, volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, chess and dart games.

Junia said the annual event aims to highlight camaraderie and cooperation among participating soldiers.

"Sport is a great equalizer. I want to see competitiveness in your gameplay and your willingness to win, but I also demand sportsmanship and grace at the end of each game. Win or lose, always remember the objective of why we are holding this activity, that is, to interact with our fellow Stormtroopers in a different field and enjoy each other’s company," 8th Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Raul Farnacio said.
