NAPOLCOM recommends promotion of P/Dir. Apolinario to 3-star general

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 12): NAPOLCOM recommends promotion of P/Dir. Apolinario to 3-star general

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) recommended to President Rodrigo Duterte the promotion of Police Director Ramon Colet Apolinario to Police Deputy Director General (PDDG), a rank equivalent to three-star general in the military.

The NAPOLCOM en banc headed by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary and NAPOLCOM Chairman Ismael D. Sueno issued Resolution No. 2016-613 dated Oct. 4, recommending to the President the promotion of Police Director Apolinario to three-star rank after Police Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa, the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), recommended his promotion and certified that he meets all the requirements for promotion to the next higher rank.

NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said that Police Director Apolinario is the Acting Chief of the Directorial Staff, the fourth highest position in the PNP, since Sept. 16 following the issuance of NAPOLCOM Resolution No. 2016-573 confirming his designation to said position.

With the proposed promotion of Police Director Apolinario, the PNP will now have two Police Deputy Director Generals, the other one is PDDG Francisco A. Uyami, Jr., the Deputy Chief for Administration (DCA),” Atty. Casurao said.

The remaining one PDDG position is for the Deputy Chief for Operations (DCO), which is now being held by Police Director Benjamin B. Magalong in an acting capacity.“Under the PNP Rank Profile, the positions of DCA, DCO and CDS call for the rank of PDDG, a three-star General,” Vice-Chairman Casurao said.
