Another Indonesian kidnap victim seized by the Abu Sayyaf
Group (ASG) brigands over a month ago was released Thursday morning in the province of Sulu
Released was Herman Bin Manggak, according to Maj. Filemon
Tan Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) spokesperson.
Manggak was initially taken to a camp of the Moro National
Liberation Front (MNLF) in Sitio Bakud, Barangay Kagay, Indanan, Sulu.
Tan told the Philippines News Agency that the MNLF later
handed over Manggak to the Joint Task Force Sulu around 11 a.m. Thursday.

The ASG brigands seized Manggak, a skipper of a
Malaysian-flagged fishing vessel, along with two of his crew on August 3, 2016
in the Malaysian side of the Kinabatangan border area in Sabah .
However, the ASG brigands left behind two of Manggak’s crew,
an Indonesian and a Malaysian.
Westmincom emphasized the release was the result of the
Joint Task Force Sulu troops in conducting continuous focused military
operations to track down and destroy the ASG brigands responsible for the
series of kidnappings and atrocities in the area.
