Philippine Navy’s newest and biggest warship Strategic Sealift Vessel BRP Tarlac (LD-601) will be joining the 33rd iteration of the Philippines Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX 33) from October 4 to 12. The Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine Marine Corps will be joined by US Marines and Sailors from the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group.

The US Embassy in Manila said humanitarian civic assistance efforts, amphibious landing exercise and live-fire training featuring artillery are just a few of the many team building opportunities during PHIBLEX 33, all designed to advance cooperation, improve interoperability and assist in strengthening bilateral amphibious capabilities.

It will include approximately 1,400 US servicemen based in Okinawa, Japan and 500 AFP personnel working side-by- side to grow capabilities and better prepare to operate together during a natural disaster or armed conflict.

Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group includes USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6), USS Green Bay (LPD-20), and USS Germantown (LSD-48).

BRP Tarlac can carry 500 troops, two rigid-hull inflatable boats, two landing craft units and three helicopters.
